Highway 1 at Fassler Avenue and Reina Del Mar Avenue
Between Rockaway Beach and Vallemar, Highway 1 is not a freeway. It has traffic signals at Fassler Avenue and at Reina Del Mar Avenue. Vallemar School sits on Reina Del Mar Avenue, beside the school district office.
Highway 1 freeway between Sharp Park Road and Manor Drive
North of Reina Del Mar Avenue, Highway 1 becomes a freeway. It then turns inland to join Interstate 280 in Daly City. Some ramps serve one direction only. Clarendon Road is a northbound exit only. Paloma Avenue has a southbound exit and a northbound entrance.
Sharp Park Road
Its exit on the Highway 1 freeway is signed for San Bruno. The road runs east to Skyline Boulevard, Highway 35. Skyline follows the ridgetop separating Pacifica from South San Francisco and Daly City. College Drive leads north off Sharp Park Road to Milagra Ridge.
The freeway is good practice for merging and lane changes. The Fassler and Reina Del Mar signals suit turns onto the highway. Vallemar School adds school zone practice. Sharp Park Road, which ends on the ridgetop, builds hill skills. Tunnels call for lane keeping. In fog, use low beams.
