Central Expressway
At San Antonio Road on the Palo Alto border, the road gains a center divider and drops its driveways. Major cross streets meet it at signals. VTA light rail crosses it at street level. Never turn in front of an approaching light rail vehicle.
Evelyn Avenue at the downtown station
The station sits between Evelyn Avenue, Castro Street and Central Expressway. VTA buses and employer shuttles use the transit center on the Evelyn side. Caltrain runs the station parking, and its main entrance is at Evelyn Avenue and View Street.
SR 85 and US 101 interchange
SR 85 ends at US 101 near Ames Research Center. Its last mile, between Central Expressway and US 101, has express lanes linked to those on US 101. On weekdays between 5 a.m. and 8 p.m., every car in them needs a FasTrak tag.
SR 237 at El Camino Real and Grant Road
SR 237 starts at this junction as a four-lane divided highway and reaches US 101 at the southern corner of Moffett Field. Heading east, the ramp to northbound SR 85 is labeled as an exit for US 101.
Rengstorff Avenue is good practice for railroad crossings. Central Expressway is practice for light rail crossings and signals on a divided road. The SR 85 and US 101 interchange suits freeway merging and lane changes. Evelyn Avenue by the station is practice for sharing the road with buses.
