Check you can test
You need a valid California learner's permit. Under 18, you also need to be 16, have had your permit for at least 6 months, and have completed 6 hours of behind-the-wheel training with a licensed instructor. Steps for drivers under 18
Find a time marked with a car
Enter your pickup address above. A time marked with a car is one we have a car free for, at an office within our 25-minute DMV drive limit.
Book that exact time with the DMV
Book the same office, date, and time on the DMV's site. You enter your own permit number and date of birth there. We never ask for them, and we never book or hold DMV appointments.
Reserve your car
Come back and reserve the car for that test. We pick you up 30 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes before your test.
Openings come from the DMV's public scheduler and change by the minute. A time can be gone by the time you book.
